‘In 1 year, the new Lewes Castle app has gone from rags to riches, excellent job by Echoes and Joseph Young! A new age for VI visitors.’
Gavin Griffiths │ Audio & Accessibility Consultant: Power Audio Productions
A unique accessible binaural audio guide for Lewes Castle & Museum.
Echoes worked with celebrated sound artist Joseph Young, who created an immersive audio guide that combined amazing binaural sound design with an engaging and informative narrative, leading you around the castle grounds and museum.
The app needed to be fully accessible for blind and partially sighted users, and we worked closely with Sensing Culture, attending focus groups in order to emulate best practice for accessible app design.
The app needed to be easy to use for a wide range of users, utilise GPS-triggered content and iBeacon technology, while still useable in fully manual mode.
The result is a simple but carefully designed and robust app that satisfies a wide gamut of different visitor needs.
‘Working with Echoes on the Lewes Castle audio guide has been a real pleasure.
‘Their professionalism and attention to detail have contributed immensely to making an ambitious idea into a workable app for blind and partially sighted users.’
