About
Ellen Reid SOUNDWALK is a GPS-enabled work of public art that uses music to illuminate the natural environment. Created by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen Reid, SOUNDWALK is tailor-made for its setting, created to encourage calm reflection and introspection, and can be experienced while following social distancing guidelines.
Our role
Eclipse Projects approached us to help with delivering an ambitious project delivering a musical experience in Central Park in collaboration with Pulitzer-Prize-winning composer Ellen Reid and the New York Philharmonic during lockdown.
The app uses GPS to create a layered musical sound experience which uses music to illuminate the environment. Each SOUNDWALK is tailor-made for the location, and encourages calm reflection and introspection.
The project has gone one to many more locations since, with collaborators such as the Kronos Quartet, Saratoga Performing Arts Festival and more. You can discover them through the app.
